Hey Everybody,

Ok so I know I said that I'd try to stop drastically altering the site every few days but I figured that it looked pretty shitty and needed changing. So here we have the new MadFerret site, it's still pretty much the same but it's been tweaked with a bit of css and some new graphics (which are still pretty crappy but hey I'm no graphic designer), we've still got the Ohana party pics, MadFerret music and your music and mixes. I've also added a forum which should have a few more catagories in it as soon as I can be arsed/have the time to add to it. At the moment the forum's got an Ohana catagory and a music catagory, if you want to add a catagory or want to add a forum to either the Ohana or Music catagories the just tell me and I'll get right on it. Since the last time I updated the site I've added a couple of new tracks to the music section including the ripe mix by Kyle Ramsey and Ian Kane and a beat that I made the other day but don't know where to go with it now (any input would be appreciated), once again it's in a Hip Hop style but at the moment it's just a loop.

What is a MadFerret?

Madferret has been my Multiplayer gaming name since I lived in Garstang house at Whitworth Park in Manchester during 1998 when I was at Manchester University and me and some mates set up a network so we could play Quake and Red Alert multiplayer and recently I've used it as my poker alias on Royal Vegas and put it on any beats I've made. It comes from the well know Manchester saying (although I'm not sure that anyone from Manchester actually says it) "Mad for it!" made famous by Liam and Noel from Oasis, it was also used as the name for the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth games Mascot which was (naturally) a big ferret. After using it for Quake I started using it as a username when I signed up for things online, but the problem was that so did everybody else so after a while I had to start using 'themadferret'. Soon this name was always taken too so for my hotmail address I had to use ' therealmadferret ' just to show that I AM the real madferret (I am him! - not Rod Hull, just madferret) and it kind of stuck. So when I was looking for a domain name obviously www.madferret.com and www.madferret.co.uk were taken (neither of them being used I might add) so I fell back on therealmadferret.co.uk which is a bit long winded but it'll have to do for now. That's enough about me and what I really want this site to be about is YOU, so if you've got anything to say get in touch or go to Mad Wiki and start up an account and get writing. If you're not familiar with Wiki it's a form of website where once you've registered you can edit all the pages and make new ones anytime you feel like it. It's pretty cool so why are you still here instead of giving it a go?

Is MadFerret mad or a ferret?

I'd like to state for the record that I'm not actually a ferret, I mean come on how's a ferret going to be able to use a keyboard with those little tiny paws? In fact how's a ferret going to be able to turn on a computer? The only thing I do have in common with a ferret is the fact that I'm quite hairy so I guess we can put that to rest - MadFerret is not a ferret. Now 'Is MadFerret mad?' is a totally different question. I suppose it depends on how you define mad, I am quite a strange fellow (as you might have noticed) so I guess you could call me mad in that respect but I wouldn't say that I'm clinically insane (although some might) so I'm pretty sure that I'm not actually mad in that sense. Also I'm not really one for getting angry so I'm not really mad in that sense either. So in answer to the above question Madferret is not mad or a ferret, however when you put the two words togeather you come up with something quite diffferent and I am definetly a MadFerret.

So what does a MadFerret do?

Well at the moment not really that much. Music is a big passion of mine so I spend a stupid amount of time listening to Hip-Hop, soul, funk, jazz, dub, HipHop, jungle, breaks, house, techno, Hip Hop, rock, blues, easy listening, broken beat, electro and err Hip-Hop. Did I mention that I like Hip hop? Second to that I spend my time making music by sampling the aforementioned music types (if you want to hear my music go here). The rest of my time goes into drinking, smoking and all kinds of ill shit! Actually that should read drinking tea, smoking, watching the Simpson's, coding web pages, playing poker and playing video games. Yes, as you've correctly deduced I am in fact a Geek. I'm not even afraid to admit it any more, in fact I'm quite open about it (obviously otherwise I wouldn't have my own web site) I have a beard and long hair and quite often find myself boring somone with my limited knowledge of physics, computers, online gaming and all maner of geekery. If I'm not at home with a cup of tea/making beats/listening to music/geeking it up then I'm usually down the pub, at a party/club or at work (we all have to make some money don't we).

Party Party Party!

It's party season and a little birdie told me that Ohana are putting on parties all summer - Woo Hoo! If you haven't been to an Ohana party then you should get your ass down there because they're what summer is all about. If you have been then you know you can expect a friendly atmosphere with the finest in Hip Hop, Drum and Bass, Jungle, House, Breaks, Techno and probably some more Jungle from the best DJ's the land has to offer, you can also expect to get boxed and talk about jibberish with someone you've never met before and possibly end up carrying a speaker down a big hill when all you want is a cup of tea and your bed.
